If you check out the sidebar over on Play a Hard Nine (Cardinals blog) you'll see a section called Data.  There's a spreadsheet for defensive projections and there's also a spreadsheet of the NL Central win talents.  It was last updated on January 9th.

Position Players (WAR)

  • Cardinals: 26.8
  • Brewers: 23.5
  • Reds: 19.9
  • Cubs: 18
  • Pirates: 15.5
  • Astros: 11.8

Pitchers (WAR)

  • Cardinals: 16.5
  • Astros: 15.4
  • Cubs: 14.9
  • Reds: 13.5
  • Brewers: 12.9
  • Pirates: 11.7

NL Central True Talent Levels (Wins)

  • Cardinals: 91.3
  • Brewers: 84.4
  • Reds: 81.4
  • Cubs: 80.9
  • Astros: 75.2
  • Pirates: 75.2

These are based on the CHONE projections.

Ouch.  The Cubs are the 4th best team in the NL Central based on the best projection system and more than 10 wins worse than the Cardinals.
