3. HORNY GOAT — Sep 03, 2008 @ 01:53 PM
Rothschild just said Z told him last night his arm felt “heavy” again. Nothing new. No pain. Nothing different. I don’t think there’s anything to panic about yet. Same with Harden. We all knew he’d skip a start. Hell, he might as well skip the next 2-3 weeks. Cubs are in the playoffs. Let ‘em rest.
Why he and Lou haven’t talked to him today, I don’t know. Z just didn’t feel like going and talking to anybody, is my guess. People are making too much about it right now, imo.
6. HORNY GOAT — Sep 03, 2008 @ 01:58 PM
not yet
would be hard to blow a 10 game lead or whatever it is, with 23 left. Yeah, it’s the cubs, I know.

Cubs fans love to worry, it’s all we’re good at. Aside from that, sounds like Z is just upset with himself and didn’t feel like dealing with the media thus no official convo w/ Lou or Larry..Just my take.
And Harden, well we could put him in ice and freeze him til October. He was acquired to dominate, in October, anything else is a bonus.

Five strikeouts already for Wolf. (dying laughing)
15. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 02:54 PM
Randy Wolf is getting quite the generous outside corner tonight, it seems.
Not watching live but Ron was pretty livid about that called strike 3 on D-Lee in the 1st. Shitty umps are all the rage now-a-days!

Have these games become painful to watch or is it just me?
not just you.
34. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:29 PM
Anyone else thinking:
1) Thank God for football season
and
2) Maybe if I turn the Cubs off for a week, they’ll be fine and I’ll stay sane?
Two ugly assed first place teams in this town.
36. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:32 PM
I usually avoid work and listen to the game, finding things quite the opposite the last two days…
39. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:46 PM
Randy Wolf: Not here for the playoffs, just to fuck up the cubs chances.
43. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:09 PM
So what’s the point of expanding the roster if you’re going to pinch hit Casey McGehee?
44. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:11 PM
And at this point I would just hit Wigginton with a pitch. If he’s going to get on anyway, he may as well earn it the hard way.

So I got a message for you cocksuckers–you 15% of the fuckin’ Internet who bleat like a bunch of unemployed fucking lambs whenever your team goes into a rut, like the one we were in when I was made world fucking famous. I see these worthless assholes here have been trying to keep you in line all year; but you don’t fucking listen to them. Why would you? They’re fucking assholes. So that’s why Uncle Lee’s here–to set you fucking unemployed cocksuckers straight.
oog confuse. this HJE? or C:BTFTC?
52. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:46 PM
That’s just disgusting. Getting swept by the Astros at home is humiliation.
53. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:46 PM
(dying laughing)@TheCubs for this series. Fortunately, it doesn’t really matter.
55. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:50 PM
On the plus side, the distance between the Cubs and Brewers remains the same, and the magic number is three less.

Coming from Kaplan, I’m not surprised to hear this. He’s a chief proponent of the lazy latin headcase stereotype.
Kaplan is hard to listen to. His general knobbery is different than the mentally challenged folks at the tribune, or the meatheads on the score. but he seems to perpetuate every single nugget of groupthink and old-school baseball fallacy in existence in a completely asinine manner.
62. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:09 PM
Kaplan talking some shit about Soriano’s baseball acumen. Sounding like an idiot. Especially as he didn’t say shit about Theriot’s botching that rundown.
64. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:11 PM
My problem with Kaplan’s line of “thinking,” and I use that term loosely, is twofold:
One, it assumes Lou and Larry, and the rest of the Cubs are being completely forthright with us. It’s quite possible, that A.) Z had the MRI and B.) the results were bad, and they’re not quite ready to break that news, or C.) there was a good bit of swelling and blood built up in the joint, and the MRI didn’t really show anything because of the swelling.
Two, while Z is a headcase, I think Harry’s work over at Cub f/x, or even a cursory glance at the Gameday data belies Kaplan’s “mental, not physical stance.” There’s obviously something physically wrong with Carlos. It’s simply a question of what, and how severe.
74. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:25 PM
How did he avoid GTOD nomination?
Because he’s a radio and television personality, most likely. I thought we restricted the GTOD to beat-writers, columnists, and most of all, bloggers.
77. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:27 PM
You know what’s funny? Even after that 5 game losing streak, the Cubs still have the best record in MLB. LMAO.
80. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:36 PM
A caller just called in and speculated that Carlos didn’t take the MRI because they have to inject his arm with dye which would put him on the shelf for two weeks (as it did earlier this season). Kaplan of course dismissed the call. He’s an absolute jack ass to callers that don’t have his same opinions.
81. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:36 PM
No worries, ccd. I wish Kap would cruise by here tomorrow. I’ve got something special coming for the off day, aimed straight at him and his ilk.
For the love of god, please tell me this doesn’t involve a money shot!
82. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:39 PM
I know for a fact that the gadolinium used in MRI injections has far fewer side-effects than the iodine-based dyes used in CT scans, PET scans, and other imaging techniques that use contrast dyes.
Does it really take two weeks to come back from that?
83. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 09:18 PM
Some observations from my night at the park: Wolf pitched the game of his life. At least 5 times tonight I yelled eephus on his changeup. Rifuckingdiculous. And then the dude would throw his fastball at 92. We were watching the gun results and while it said 69 on the change, I was like, “try 59”. Truly confusing stuff. They were just guessing the whole game. By the end the Cubs were assuming first-pitch fastball and that’s why you saw so many quick ABs. I’ve never seen in person a pitcher change speeds that effectively. It just ruined the Cubs hitters.
84. pmayo — Sep 04, 2008 @ 01:37 AM
The Score is reporting that the injection is exactly the reason Carlos refused to take the MRI. The doctor told him he’d have to miss two weeks, and Z refused the test, but apparently Lou and Larry talked him into it last night, and he will have it done today.
New Thread up.

I predict that Randy Wolf is in for an ass whipping.
