I predict that Randy Wolf is in for an ass whipping.

2. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 01:53 PM

damn!

3. HORNY GOAT — Sep 03, 2008 @ 01:53 PM

Rothschild just said Z told him last night his arm felt “heavy” again. Nothing new. No pain. Nothing different. I don’t think there’s anything to panic about yet. Same with Harden. We all knew he’d skip a start. Hell, he might as well skip the next 2-3 weeks. Cubs are in the playoffs. Let ‘em rest.

Why he and Lou haven’t talked to him today, I don’t know. Z just didn’t feel like going and talking to anybody, is my guess. People are making too much about it right now, imo.

4. HORNY GOAT — Sep 03, 2008 @ 01:54 PM

damn!

you can’t even be “first!” to your own thread?

5. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 01:55 PM

cubs are in the playoffs.

not yet

6. HORNY GOAT — Sep 03, 2008 @ 01:58 PM

not yet

would be hard to blow a 10 game lead or whatever it is, with 23 left. Yeah, it’s the cubs, I know.

7. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 02:04 PM

People are making too much about it right now, imo.

Agreed, HG.

8. BellwetherMeltdown — Sep 03, 2008 @ 02:14 PM

Chatting tonight gentlemen?

9. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 02:15 PM

Cubs fans love to worry, it’s all we’re good at. Aside from that, sounds like Z is just upset with himself and didn’t feel like dealing with the media thus no official convo w/ Lou or Larry..Just my take.

And Harden, well we could put him in ice and freeze him til October. He was acquired to dominate, in October, anything else is a bonus.

10. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 02:46 PM

Ramirez with some fancy leather there

11. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 02:46 PM

CC officially got his one hitter validated, no overturn

12. oog of ulam, Assistant Key Grip — Sep 03, 2008 @ 02:47 PM

Five strikeouts already for Wolf. (dying laughing)

13. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 02:51 PM

Randy Wolf is getting quite the generous outside corner tonight, it seems.

14. Harry Pavlidis — Sep 03, 2008 @ 02:54 PM

must execute and tie the game

15. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 02:54 PM

Randy Wolf is getting quite the generous outside corner tonight, it seems.

Not watching live but Ron was pretty livid about that called strike 3 on D-Lee in the 1st. Shitty umps are all the rage now-a-days!

16. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:03 PM

Not watching live but Ron was pretty livid about that called strike 3 on D-Lee in the 1st.

According to Gameday, the outside corner tonight is Galvine-esque. Demp hasn’t gone out there much, but Wolf is wearing it out.

17. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:12 PM

Have these games become painful to watch or is it just me?

18. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:14 PM

I’ve never seen one team hit more warning track flyballs.

19. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:15 PM

Have these games become painful to watch or is it just me?

not just you.

20. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:16 PM

WTF is wrong with these guys? Hit the ball the other way and hit line drives. This flyball bullshit ain’t gonna do any good tonite.

21. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:16 PM

The Cubs need to score here.

22. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:17 PM

Have these games become painful to watch or is it just me?

I have never felt worse watching a playoff bound/first place Cubs team. This is strange.

23. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:17 PM

WTF is wrong with these guys? Hit the ball the other way and hit line drives. This flyball bullshit ain’t gonna do any good tonite.

This team acts like it has no idea how to play in this park with the wind blowing in. It’s been that way all season.

24. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:18 PM

That’s just not a strike. Something has to be done about these umpires. The strike zones are getting silly.

25. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:20 PM

This team acts like it has no idea how to play in this park with the wind blowing in. It’s been that way all season.

Lastnite they can’t get a flyball when they need it, now they can’t stop hitting ‘em into the wind. Sometimes it just ain’t going your way.

26. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:21 PM

did Ronnie get a new rug?

27. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:21 PM

Sometimes it just ain’t going your way.

I guess. Right now, it’s just intensifying my hatred of the Asstros. I wouldn’t piss on them if they were on fire.

28. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:22 PM

Yeah, ccd, he did. Pat was giving him a lot grief about it a couple days ago.

29. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:23 PM

this game might be over.

30. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:23 PM

here that loud fucking choking sound?

31. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:24 PM

Fuck these Astros in their goatasses. Fuck them down to the ground. Fuck them in the ear. Fucking Miss Piggy lookalike Wigginton hitting dingers. Fuck.

32. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:24 PM

here that loud fucking choking sound?

loud and clear

33. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:25 PM

DPLee-ted

34. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:29 PM

Anyone else thinking:

1) Thank God for football season

and

2) Maybe if I turn the Cubs off for a week, they’ll be fine and I’ll stay sane?

Two ugly assed first place teams in this town.

35. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:30 PM

Since Ryno’s not here, I’ll pronounce:

Cubs lose.

36. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:32 PM

I usually avoid work and listen to the game, finding things quite the opposite the last two days…

37. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:39 PM

Fuck. The Astros have sold their souls to the devil. Everything going their way.

38. Harry Pavlidis — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:40 PM

Another nice play by Ted Williams out there.

39. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:46 PM

Randy Wolf: Not here for the playoffs, just to fuck up the cubs chances.

40. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:47 PM

Always remember that it could be worse:

41. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 03:51 PM

What the fuck is Miss Piggy on? Seriously. That’s Ty Wiggington out there, not fucking Roberto Clemente. Holy fucking shit.

42. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:08 PM

The good news is that Wolf is at 103 pitches. He can’t stick around much longer.

43. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:09 PM

So what’s the point of expanding the roster if you’re going to pinch hit Casey McGehee?

44. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:11 PM

And at this point I would just hit Wigginton with a pitch. If he’s going to get on anyway, he may as well earn it the hard way.

45. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:12 PM

Neal Cotts?????? We expand the rosters to pitch Neal Cotts and Bobby Batting Practice? Lou has really shit the bed during this series.

46. oog of ulam, Assistant Key Grip — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:18 PM

So I got a message for you cocksuckers–you 15% of the fuckin’ Internet who bleat like a bunch of unemployed fucking lambs whenever your team goes into a rut, like the one we were in when I was made world fucking famous. I see these worthless assholes here have been trying to keep you in line all year; but you don’t fucking listen to them. Why would you? They’re fucking assholes. So that’s why Uncle Lee’s here–to set you fucking unemployed cocksuckers straight.

oog confuse. this HJE? or C:BTFTC?

47. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:28 PM

You get shut out by Randy Wolf, you deserve whatever horrid fucking fate befalls you.

48. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:34 PM

I turned it off

49. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:36 PM

Nice. Fat guy steals home, and Theriot displays his complete inability to have a sensible thought pass through his Cajun head.

50. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:41 PM

Goddamnit.

51. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:41 PM

Randy Fucking Wolf tosses a complete game shutout for the sweep. How fucking embarrassing. The Cubs just got bitch-slapped in their own ballpark.

52. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:46 PM

That’s just disgusting. Getting swept by the Astros at home is humiliation.

53. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:46 PM

(dying laughing)@TheCubs for this series. Fortunately, it doesn’t really matter.

54. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:47 PM

Lou managed this series like he was punting it. Let’s hope that’s the case.

55. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:50 PM

On the plus side, the distance between the Cubs and Brewers remains the same, and the magic number is three less.

56. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:56 PM

Dave Kaplan on the postgame is going to discuss the soap opera that is unfolding around Carlos Zambrano. He teased it by saying that according to his sources the issues appear to be mental and not physical.

I’m gonna listen and I’ll write what he reports.

57. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:58 PM

58. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 04:58 PM

the issues appear to be mental and not physical.

Coming from Kaplan, I’m not surprised to hear this. He’s a chief proponent of the lazy latin headcase stereotype.

59. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:05 PM

He’s a chief proponent of the lazy latin headcase stereotype.

That he is pmayo. I think all he’s doing here is ripping Z for not taking the MRI.

60. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:06 PM

Coming from Kaplan, I’m not surprised to hear this. He’s a chief proponent of the lazy latin headcase stereotype.

Kaplan is hard to listen to. His general knobbery is different than the mentally challenged folks at the tribune, or the meatheads on the score. but he seems to perpetuate every single nugget of groupthink and old-school baseball fallacy in existence in a completely asinine manner.

61. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:08 PM

Kaplan is now ripping Soriano for not ending up at second on the play where Cedeno was thrown out at the plate. (dying laughing). This fucker hates the latinos.

62. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:09 PM

Kaplan talking some shit about Soriano’s baseball acumen. Sounding like an idiot. Especially as he didn’t say shit about Theriot’s botching that rundown.

63. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:09 PM

anything to add ccd?

64. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:11 PM

My problem with Kaplan’s line of “thinking,” and I use that term loosely, is twofold:

One, it assumes Lou and Larry, and the rest of the Cubs are being completely forthright with us. It’s quite possible, that A.) Z had the MRI and B.) the results were bad, and they’re not quite ready to break that news, or C.) there was a good bit of swelling and blood built up in the joint, and the MRI didn’t really show anything because of the swelling.

Two, while Z is a headcase, I think Harry’s work over at Cub f/x, or even a cursory glance at the Gameday data belies Kaplan’s “mental, not physical stance.” There’s obviously something physically wrong with Carlos. It’s simply a question of what, and how severe.

65. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:12 PM

Especially as he didn’t say shit about Theriot’s botching that rundown.

oooops he just missed it. LMAO

66. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:12 PM

It’s criminal that Kaplan is attacking Sori and glossing Theriot’s asshattery. I’m turning this fuckface off. Life is too short to listen to people who are so willingly ignorant.

67. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:13 PM

anything to add ccd?

nothing yet.

68. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:16 PM

It’s criminal that Kaplan is attacking Sori and glossing Theriot’s asshattery.

This is par for the course with Kap. I can’t wait to here what else he says about Z.

69. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:18 PM

nothing yet.

He’s tired.

70. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:21 PM

He’s tired.

That is the worst thing that has happened on this blog.

71. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:21 PM

Kaplan has nothing on this story(Z). This is nothing but him reading tea leaves. Sorry I teased this earlier. I thought he’d have something. He doesn’t.

72. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:22 PM

Kaplan has nothing on this story(Z). This is nothing but him reading tea leaves. Sorry I teased this earlier. I thought he’d have something. He doesn’t.

How did he avoid GTOD nomination?

73. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:24 PM

I thought he’d have something.

Mistake number one.

74. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:25 PM

How did he avoid GTOD nomination?

Because he’s a radio and television personality, most likely. I thought we restricted the GTOD to beat-writers, columnists, and most of all, bloggers.

75. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:26 PM

I apologize for posting this earlier. He (Kaplan) acted like he had some sort of insider information and it’s now apparent he’s just feeding his predjudiced opinion.

Sorry fellas.

76. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:27 PM

Because he’s a radio and television personality, most likely. I thought we restricted the GTOD to beat-writers, columnists, and most of all, bloggers.

I see. If Brenly was in there, Kap should’ve been, though.

77. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:27 PM

You know what’s funny? Even after that 5 game losing streak, the Cubs still have the best record in MLB. LMAO.

78. pmayo — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:31 PM

No worries, ccd. I wish Kap would cruise by here tomorrow. I’ve got something special coming for the off day, aimed straight at him and his ilk.

79. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:35 PM

I see. If Brenly was in there, Kap should’ve been, though.

Fuck off.

80. ccd — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:36 PM

A caller just called in and speculated that Carlos didn’t take the MRI because they have to inject his arm with dye which would put him on the shelf for two weeks (as it did earlier this season). Kaplan of course dismissed the call. He’s an absolute jack ass to callers that don’t have his same opinions.

81. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:36 PM

No worries, ccd. I wish Kap would cruise by here tomorrow. I’ve got something special coming for the off day, aimed straight at him and his ilk.

For the love of god, please tell me this doesn’t involve a money shot!

82. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 05:39 PM

I know for a fact that the gadolinium used in MRI injections has far fewer side-effects than the iodine-based dyes used in CT scans, PET scans, and other imaging techniques that use contrast dyes.

Does it really take two weeks to come back from that?

83. — Sep 03, 2008 @ 09:18 PM

Some observations from my night at the park: Wolf pitched the game of his life. At least 5 times tonight I yelled eephus on his changeup. Rifuckingdiculous. And then the dude would throw his fastball at 92. We were watching the gun results and while it said 69 on the change, I was like, “try 59”. Truly confusing stuff. They were just guessing the whole game. By the end the Cubs were assuming first-pitch fastball and that’s why you saw so many quick ABs. I’ve never seen in person a pitcher change speeds that effectively. It just ruined the Cubs hitters.

84. pmayo — Sep 04, 2008 @ 01:37 AM

The Score is reporting that the injection is exactly the reason Carlos refused to take the MRI. The doctor told him he’d have to miss two weeks, and Z refused the test, but apparently Lou and Larry talked him into it last night, and he will have it done today.

New Thread up.
